Answers
Treatment for most people with GERD includes lifestyle changes (weight reduction, avoiding trigger foods, sleeping with head of bed raised, reducing alcohol and tobacco etc) and medication. A PPI and Prokinetic may be helpful - but impossible to predict in a patient. It can take weeks of treatment before symptoms begin to improve. In some patients medication and lifestyle changes are insufficient to control symptoms and will require surgery.
