What exactly are bio-identical hormones?

Official answer

by drugclasses.com

Bijuva contains bio-identical hormones that are identical to the hormones produced naturally in a woman’s body.

Bijuva (estradiol and progesterone) from TherapeuticsMD was approved by the FDA in October 2018 as a bio-identical hormone capsule combination to treat moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes) due to menopause in women who have a uterus.

"Bio-identical” hormones like estradiol and progesterone are molecularly identical to the hormones produced naturally in a woman’s body; however, there is no evidence that bio-identical hormones are more safe or effective than synthetic hormones.
