What type of drug is Zemdri?

Zemdri (plazomicin) is an aminoglycoside antibacterial drug given via intravenous infusion once daily.
Zemdri is for adults with complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis (a kidney infection), caused by certain Enterobacteriaceae in patients who have limited or no alternative treatment options. Zemdri was FDA approved in June 2018 and is from manufacturer Achaogen, Inc.
