For Crohn's Disease "It is early days yet (under one month) since I commenced treatment with Questran Light, but there has been a marked decrease in daily bowel activity. I have had Crohn's for the past 18 years, and all other medications have proved to be largely ineffective. I have been concerned about the potentially dangerous side effects that some medicines that are prescribed for this condition may have. Since starting this course of treatment, my intake of codeine and Lomotil/Imodium has been minimal. While constipation has occurred, it has been manageable. Without going down this track, with four identified strictures, I was looking down the barrel of surgery. I am moderately confident that at least so far this has been a positive move."

"I've used it for 10 years now. Without it I was using Imodium daily which by the way didn't always bring relief unless I used 2 to 3 at a time. So although the taste could be better and it's on the expensive side, I'm very happy with Quetran Light."

"I have had IBS symptoms since age 19. I had my gall bladder removed in my late twenties & in recent years have been diagnosed with Crohns ileitis, microscopic colitis, diverticulitis and told quite a few years ago I have functional gut disorder. I've also had severe endometriosis for over 40yrs and had 7 operations including a 5 hour surgery to separate my bowel from my pelvic organs. I was prescribed questran powder by my consultant gastroenterologist a few years ago and it has helped me, sometimes it works really well & sometimes I still have symptoms but as I have several bowel disorders it is sometimes hard to work out which one is symptomatic. I found it hard to take in the morning as my pain is at its worst plus I have nausea which I find is slightly worsened by taking questran. So I now take 1-2 sachets at night. Its easier to mix/swallow if you leave it sit on top of a drink for a few minutes, I also find it easier in a cool/cold drink but that's not good for IBS. Brill stuff!"

For Crohn's Disease "For me, Questran is fantastic. Without it, I would be too ill to leave the house."

For Hyperlipoproteinemia Type IIa, Elevated LDL "I used Questran Light for 2 years, one pouch/day at 3 PM. I was not aware that it should not stay in touch with the teeth for a long time. The cholestyramine completely damaged my teeth, causing rapid decay in almost all my teeth. Cholestyramine is an ion exchange resin, taking certain minerals in the resin. Many teeth had to be extracted and the others had extensive restoration work. My dentist said that it was impossible to just have such extensive decay, even if I would have been negligent on brushing. Oh, how I would have liked to know to vigorously rinse out the cholestyramine suspension sticking on my teeth RIGHT AFTER ingestion. I also would have brushed my teeth RIGHT AFTER this rinsing of my mouth, not during the evening, it's too long a time. My suggestion: rinse out the remaining suspension very well right after ingestion and right after, gently brush your teeth with toothpaste."
