When is the best time to take Toujeo?

• Toujeo may be given at any time of the day; however, once you have chosen a time, it is best to inject Toujeo within three hours of that time every day.
• Toujeo is a long-acting insulin that lasts up to 36 hours.
• Although Toujeo is usually administered once a day, some people may benefit from twice-daily administration.
• You can choose what time you self-administer Toujeo.
• If needed, you can change the time you administer Toujeo, just talk to your doctor about this.

Toujeo is a long-acting form of man-made insulin (insulin glargine) that may be used to lower blood sugar levels in adults and children 6 years and older with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Toujeo lasts for up to 36 hours. Even though Toujeo is usually given once a day, some people may experience better blood sugar control if the dose is split and given twice a day (every 12 hours).

You can administer Toujeo any time of the day or night, but preferably it should be given at approximately the same time every day. For example, if you like to inject yourself at 8 am, then try to inject yourself around 8 am every morning.

However, there is some flexibility with the dosing time. If you need to, you can inject Toujeo up to three hours before or after the regular dosing time.
