Absolutely! I conduct drug screens for work place investigations and am a drug screen analyst. I use ranitidine (ranitidine hydrochloride) 150mg 1-1.5x a day for acid reflux and I tested positive for methamphetamine's on an express (urine) test that we conducted as a random control, 12 panel test, knowing without a doubt it should return a 100% negative result for drug use.
The first time this happened we actually initiated an investigation to determine if our staff was being drugged for nefarious reasons before we were advised of ranitidine's proclivity to show false positive non-negative express test results.

Yes! I had a urine test today. Never touched amphetamines in my life! It came up positive and I looked up what could cause a false positive. Thank God it showed Zantac/ Ranitidine. I took 150mg this morning, two hours before my drug screen. Crazy! Carry all prescriptions with you next time. And if you must, try to educate your professional.

I have been clean a little over 11yrs an I get drug screens every month in my sobriety program. I hv had over 11yrs of clean UA's except my initial one to enter program. This past Monday I had a drug screen an on Thursday I got a call I tested positive for amphetamines. It's impossible because I have been clean from illicit drugs. I recently started taking ranitidine 150mgs otc an now I am finally aware that this is the culprit. I am loyal to my sobriety. I really wish they would put info in the leaflet so we are aware of it.

YES it Does! It just made me give a false positive for methamphetamine, I'm 9 months pregnant and I'm completely drug free. I would avoid taking this medication if you have a UA coming up.

Yes, it will. It just happened to me. I have been using pretty large amounts of Zantac, for years. When my employer very recently gave me a random, on the spot urine drug test, I came back positive for methamphetamine! - a substance I most certainly do not use! Nor have I ever.

The pharmacist, at my Physicians office told me, and my employer, that it was the Zantac causing the problem. An extremely embarrassing problem, I might add!!

Yes absolutely ranitidine can cause a false positive for meth. i recently failed a urine test. Said i used meth. Not possible! I took 1 ranitidine 150mg about two and a half hours before my drug screen. The only other drugs i took were ibuprofen and rolaids. I really dislike all medication. Thankfully my employer allowed a confirmation test. A hair test proved my innocence. Still it cost me several hundred dollars in lost wages. Personally i will choose to suffer the unbearable stomach pain rather than risk my job again.

I suspect it could. Other medications like it have. These drug tests are not accurate, and many prescriptions and otc meds can cause false positives, not to mention food.
